A little about me

Hi, my name is Shawn and I'm a sexy bastard.

I play guitar, drums and can sing. Ok maybe my singing ain't that good but I'd still pass as a backup. :P I used to be quite good with them strings (even if I do say so myself) but lack of playing has deteriorated my skills somewhat. Following my watching of the "Crossroads Guitar Festival", I took a fancy to the blues. Unfortunately, most of my tunes are pretty "dark". Haha.

I'm also a computer lover(duh). I love machines (No! Not in that way!). For me, the attraction to programming is the fact that I'm able control a very powerful machine that never tires.

Therefore, with my love of all things computers, I do a fair bit of programming/coding. I am particularly proficient in the web based languages like PHP, MySQL, Javascript, CSS and of course, HTML. I also dabble with ISO C++ and wxWidgets C++. I also use NSIS for all my installation needs.

I've gotta a couple of projects going on now including SingaporeFlavour.com, FishingKaki.com and tutorialis to name a few. Some of these projects(e.g. tutorialis) can also be seen at http://www.sourceforge.net.

I also really enjoy building DIY computers. In about 2 years time when I'm out of the army, me and a few buddies are gonna be building our own super DIY Computers. I've made one before but the scale of this one is gonna be huge. No holds barred.

I'm what some would classify as a Windows Power User. I knew about Vista(then Longhorn) and Vienna(then Blackcomb) since the year 2000. I've even tried out Vista while it was still in Beta(found myself not liking it though). I don't support Microsoft even though I admire that they are where they are now. I support linux. All of my computers have linux installed. It's either dual booted or purely linux. I'm particularly familiar with Fedora.

With my knowledge of web servers, I hope to transfer all my sites over to a rack server that I will own and co-locate in a local IDC. Home broadband connections just can't cut it in terms of speed.
